Zeitphänomene und Zeitvorstellungen – Anregungen aus der Zeitforschung

Zeit hat als Uhrzeit oder auch Kalenderzeit mit ihrer weltweiten Geltung unser Bewusstsein geprägt, ohne dass uns dies noch im Alltag bewusst ist. Dies hat gesellschaftliche Ursachen. Zeit besitzt aber zugleich ein Vielfaches an Formen und Vorstellungsmodellen, die je nach Kontext der Gruppe, Themenstellung und individuellen Hintergründen der Teilnehmenden in die Prozesse hineinwirken. Der Vielfalt dieser Phänomene will ich mit einem Rückbezug auf Erkenntnisse der Zeitforschung in diesem Beitrag nachgehen. Wenn in dem folgenden Beitrag von Zeitforschung die Rede ist, so geschieht dies ohne einen Bezug zu einer klar abgegrenzten Disziplin, weil wir im Wissenschaftssystem über keine Zeitforschungsdisziplin verfügen. Demzufolge werden in dem Beitrag Bezüge zur Geschichte, der Philosophie und Sozialforschung hergestellt, wo sich Arbeiten zum Thema finden.

Time Phenomena and Time Views

Whether shown by our watches or our calendars, the worldwide presence of Time has shaped our consciousness without us even being aware of it in daily life. The causes, among other things, are social. But Time also has many forms and many conceptual models which have a bearing on processes depending on the context of the respective group, the theme area, and the individual backgrounds of those involved. My aim in this article is to trace the multiplicity of these phenomena while also linking them with the results of time research. Whenever „time research“ is mentioned in the following, this is done without wishing to refer to a clearly distinguished discipline; our family of sciences has no field of „Time Research“ as such at its disposal. For this reason, it will be more appropriate in this article to unearth the relationship between time and history, philosophy, and societal research – all fields in which publications on our theme are to be found.
